I have built many relationships,
ReplyDeletesome are great towers soaring towards the sky,
some have crumbled and sit in ruin.
I really like this one
DeleteThis paints a picture in my head. good job
DeleteI’ve been scared to get hopelessly lost
ReplyDeletein high expectations.
I’ve been scared to be lonely,
so I don’t walk alone.
ReplyDeleteDo all things happen for a reason?
When I think about God and all his teachings,
I think of everything horrible that has happened in my life.
Horrible things that have happened to myself,
but mostly things that have happened to people around me.
Why are there shootings, why do people die in horrible ways,
why do family members die?
He never got his book back. I just held on to it tightly. This is the last memory I have of my older brother.
ReplyDeleteI have seen myself
Be so sad and alone that I want to die
And I have recovered
Then I have gone back to the deepest corners
of my mind
Just to find what I have feared most.
I have been all over the world, i have seen many things but I do not remember everything i have seen or heard or even learned.
ReplyDeleteI have been all over the world but and I have learned many things but the most important thing i have learned is home is where the heart is.
I seen acts of terrorism and I know for a fact that it is brutal ,bloody and also Terrifying.
Life is fragile
I have a heart,
ReplyDeleteit’s just 600 miles away from my chest,
and it’s wrapped around his neck.
And only one person will ever have all of it,
because we both know that we will have each others.
Oh wow, it sounds like you got the concept of love down. Maybe, you should unwrap your heart from your neck.
DeleteFyi I got him a dog tag for Christmas and it means the world to him, that's what I meant by 'and it's wrapped around his neck'
DeleteI tell you sincerely i’ve never drank or smoked, but my eyes hang from long nights
ReplyDeleteI once had a Brother, but he moved after I meet him
I twice lost my dad, all to a bottle
I’ve seen both sides of the fence
And I like the one closest to home
I hold the weight of expectations on my shoulders, and it gets heavy

ReplyDeleteI've lost a part of me while I watched someone take their last breath
ReplyDeleteI've been lied too
I have lied to others
I've been told I will get better but seems like I never do
That was very deep and really gets to me because it touches the soft spot in my heart.
DeleteDanny, I couldn't agree more with your intelligent comment.
DeleteI love the sight of the sun beginning to shine after an afternoon summer rain shower
ReplyDeleteI’ve found that people can and will change, but memories will not
I’ve heard the sound of a newborn baby crying in the middle of a Sunday Church service and I am mesmerized by the beauty of God’s creation.
Just for a second,
ReplyDeleteI thought it could change.
But everyone knocks me down,
it's my choice to get back up.
I am telling you, sincerely,
I am afraid of humanity.
Twice I have escaped death
ReplyDeleteAnd only once have I learned of what I have
I have what every man dreams of, a second chance
I will testify that death will not stop me.
I have stories of all the times that the earth should have won
ReplyDeleteYet I remain dominant and hold onto the life I was given
I have seen people do more with nothing
than those who have everything
So what shall I do with what I have?
I have gone through the deaths of loved ones
Not a tear to come from my cheek
and I question, am I human?
I once lived in my mothers stomach, Alone and warm.
ReplyDeleteI have seen a ghost on a baseball trip to Colorado Springs while I was walking back to my hotel room from the pool.
I once called my best friend brother, wondering what it is like to actually have one live with you.
I have lived the dream of driving a sports car although only around the block, The experience still ponders waiting for another chance.
How long have you wanted to drive a sports car?
DeleteWhat sports car?
Deleteive found that not all things are easy
ReplyDeleteyou kinda just have to live life
things will get better
so just wait and move on
This is inspiring
DeleteI like this because it really does represent life and how you have to work twice as hard to achieve your goal even though you might fail

ReplyDeleteI’ve seen the worst of human nature
and the best of human nature
all at the same time
I’ve had the pleasure of experiencing extraordinary things
ReplyDeletethat vary from living in London
to staying in Canada
to watching the sunset from my backyard
I've held this love for a while,
ReplyDeleteI tell you sincerely I love you,
I love you with all my heart and more,
I learned how much people are capable of love,
I found a great love in you and for you.
This is really sweet Alyssa. I can really tell how much you love him.
DeleteI have known some good people
ReplyDeleteYet I have lost some good people
All who live around the country
what happened to those people did they die or leave?
DeleteI have looked into the night sky
ReplyDeleteso amazed by its beauty
that I forgot to wish upon the shooting stars
I love my Dad
ReplyDeleteI love my Mom
I love my friends

DeleteSimple but deep, it shows the real heart inside of you and our passion for the people around you.
DeleteI noticed you hold people close to you
DeletePowerful, I can tell that Connor loves life
DeleteYou love a lot. That's good.
DeleteI have petted my first dog short and brown, but then had to give him up.
ReplyDeleteI have petted turtles wrinkled all over, snakes smooth and slick, crabs hard and pointy and even a bird so much like fur.
Some of them left me in just a few weeks they went on to a new life.
I've seen the sunrise from two sides of the earth
ReplyDeleteI've learned its one world
But it’s two when I close my eyes.
I love Volkswagen from the " Thing " all the way to a Golf.
ReplyDeleteI love skating at Parker with the homies
I have stories of many close calls
It is a special place to me.
ReplyDeleteIt takes me away from all the stress of life
Where no society can intrude
Just listening to nature speak to me
I feel like the woods give me another chance
Its good that your connected to nature
DeleteI really like the way you descirbed the woods and how it gives you a clean slate in a way. It's inspiring and neat to think about.
DeleteI onced had a goldfish
ReplyDeleteI witnessed my brother tap on the glass
I found my goldfish, dead upside down the next day
I learned never let my brother near my pets

Once I wanted something so badly
ReplyDeletethat I hoped for it every day

What was/is it?
DeleteHave you ever tried to go out and get it?
DeleteI have been to San Diego and got to see some games at Petco Park.

ReplyDeleteBut only once did I feel true fear.
On December 13, 2013.
The day a student walked into my school and started shooting.
This is beautiful
Delete@Dakota_G hey man. whats up?
DeleteI learned that when you fall down
ReplyDeletePeople want you to stay down
Sometimes you have to take matters
Into your own hands
And fly
I like how you worded this
Deletewhen did you overcome people
DeleteI have been to Yellowstone where I saw lots of wild life.
ReplyDeleteI learned to love the outdoors.
I realize you should always make the most out of what life brings you.
That is good
DeleteLets go camping.
DeleteI have heard yellowstone is pretty cool
DeleteI've held onto things that I shouldn't, because letting go is the scariest.
ReplyDeleteI tell you sincerely that I will keep your secrets, but not that I will tell you mine.
I learned that behind every "just kidding" is a bit of truth.
Oh wow. Just kidding is kinda like a shield of a crying man
DeleteThis is pretty deep.

ReplyDeleteI’ve been scared of hard things,
I’ve been scared of change, and the unknown.
But I tell you sincerely, that in the end all the things you’re scared of,
Just make you stronger.

DeleteI love the Broncos

ReplyDeleteI have felt the warm white sand between my sore feet.
I have always wanted my life to be like the movies, but I guess life is a little more than that.
Where did you feel warm white sand?
DeleteI love visiting Brigantine New Jersey
ReplyDeletebecause it brings back a lot of memories.
Iv held an alligator in my hands
and it felt really rough like armor.
Iv held a lot of farm animals
from when I lived on a ranch.
Did you used to live in New Jersey? Do you want to live there again? When did you live on a ranch?

I'm from the beginning
the empty lunch tables
the last picked for sports
Ill tell you sincerely that I wasn't the best baseball player
ReplyDeleteNow that i am grown up i am glad I said my prayers
I found that its hard to make your dreams come true
But when I got to high school baseball I already knew
I've seen good and I've seen bad
Even though I wasn't the best there is, no reason to be sad
Once upon a time I used to sit the bench
But now they see reality and the coaches son is on the bench.
I liked your story very inspiring
DeleteI like your comments, well said Julio, inspiring
DeleteI’ve held a puppy,
ReplyDeleteI’ve lost a puppy,

Are dogs really important to you? How many dogs have you had?
DeleteDoes the cycle ever end?
DeleteI like how this comment is like the circle of life. They had to experience life and death.
DeleteI’ve held life in my hands
ReplyDeleteand handed him back to his parents
I’ve lost family members and friends

That's deep Andy. Real deep.
DeleteSimple but very moving.

DeleteIt is intense, and we all can relate.
DeleteSo deep
DeleteAmazing statement
DeleteWhat is the deeper meaning of this?
DeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteI have lost faith and hope at points in my life but have always found the strength the power through and regain what I had lost.
ReplyDeleteI will tell you sincerely there is a lot more to me than meets the eye.
I have held many great things in my hands...
What are the great things you have held in your hands?
DeleteAt first, when looked at a baseball I notice the seams because that is the only thing that stood out. As time passed the love for the game grew, now every time I look at a baseball my fills with joy and excitement. The only time where I asked myself why I loved baseballs so much was when a line drive hit my nose and broke it, but not even that could not get in the way of my love for a baseball.

DeleteThis is deep. It seems you would truly do anything
DeleteThis makes me want to know what you did for those Klondike bars!

What places? (Outside of Hawaii)
DeleteGood Job

ReplyDelete1. It was a sunny, Sunday spring day, I was home alone watching some tv. It was 7th grade, and I was good looking, but not as gorgeous as I am today. My dad walked in through the front door, and dug his hand through a bag and pulled out a afro pick, he through it onto my lap, I picked it up admiring this wonderful creation of hair maintenance. There was a black one and a red one. I immediately fell in love. I took the black one and went up stairs, I stood in the bathroom admiring my beauty as my hair got bigger and bigger. All day I would pick my hair, if I was watching TV I would be running the pick up through my hair, if I was working out I’d take a break to check up on how the mane was holding up. That night I slept with my afro pick resting on my night stand.
I remember waking up that morning extra early to work on the fro. I picked it out, got it lookin good and went to school. People admiring my beauty and asking what I did differently. A little self conscious about it, I said I woke up and it was just like it. I didn’t put it in my pocket, like I do everyday today. I put it in my binder and hid it. When I went to math I opened my binder and the cute girl sitting next to me said “What the heck is that!”
I replied with “Oh shoot how’d that get in there!?”
“What did your mom accidentally put it in there?”
“Psht noooooo. It’s mine, my hairs gorgeous for a reason, this just helps it get it to its full potential,”
“Yeah sure” she said with a smirk, but looking back at it now makes me realize that she was being sarcastic, but at the time I was convinced she dug it. So, I kept it in my pocket and took it with me everywhere I went since that day.
2. I have only seen such a wonderful object in movies, and tv shows. I had never seen another person hold onto one, I would be the first.
3. It was black like all the other, but the hilt of the pick did not have a fist, symbolising black power and unity. Mine just had a hole.
I’ve learned how much people care.
ReplyDeleteI’ve learned things can change, really really fast.
I’ve learned to always tell the people I love that I love them
I’ve learned not to stay made. It isn’t worth it.
Has what you learned changed who you are?
DeleteI've seen a dead body
ReplyDeletelying on a metal table
flattened
and dried to a husk.
Did you know the dead body?
DeleteHow did you get into this situation?

This is really powerful, and the lines could mean different things to each person. I like that they are put into stanzas the way you have them, it packs a punch.
DeleteI would like to think that I was like them, happy and hardworking. Loving school enough to go to a similar place in summer. I will testify that school has made me the person that I am. The one that could get up one day and feel sick to my stomach over the thought of even stepping into a classroom, but choose to go in and learn regardless
ReplyDeleteI have stories that are quite fascinating.
ReplyDeleteI've been scared to speak my mind in fear of the outcome.
I've seen that serene coast of Italy, colorful sunset of Hawaii, and astounding beauty of Colorado.
I am a witness, a witness of reality,
ReplyDeleteThe world is in a competition,
Academically, Socially, and Athletically,
I really like this. It sums up what the world is about in this day and age.
