They become dirty. Nothing is clean, not their clothes and not their choices. No one loves the one the want to love because the fairies messed them up. Dirt can easily blind someone. That someone can get off the pathway they want to be on and slide down the slippery slope. When we see the lovers again they are naked with the right lover they love. They are clean and pure. kinda. I think this symbolizes the fact that everything having to do with the character's love got more and more messed up and once everything was in complete chaos, everything got better and resolved which the spotless bodies symbolized.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-942402375425006223.post-81600483581739338392014-02-20T12:28:31.884-08:002014-02-20T12:28:31.884-08:00During the beginning of the scene everyone had the...During the beginning of the scene everyone had their clothes intact and clean. Not only for the lovers but also friendship. For example, when Hermia and Helena were fighting, their hair and clothes look really bad. It got so bad that they threw eachother in the mud. But also when the lovers get all tangled up, they all look the worst. I think this symbolizes that when love is misguided, the path it travels is filled with filthy tricks and lies. So when they are clean at the beginning of act 4, it symbolizes that their love for one another is no longer misguided and can flourish.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-942402375425006223.post-14551279629903450712014-02-20T12:28:12.928-08:002014-02-20T12:28:12.928-08:00In the beginning of the movie most of the characte...In the beginning of the movie most of the characters are all put together looking (besides Helena) because they are trying to be proper and 'high up'. Then after they are in the woods for a while their clothes start to change and get dirty, at the same time they are all fighting and everyone loves someone that they shouldn't, so their lives are messy and their clothes match their inner and outer turmoil. Then after they go to sleep and Puck redoes their eyes and places them where they should be they become clean and naked again, which could symbolize a re birth and cleaning of the past days events. It's like they are pure and everything is as it should be again.
